#24. Heitler Building
GRAND AVENUE AND COLUMBIA
Charles and Ed Heitler ran a general mercantile together until the death of Charles. Ed then ran the business until the 1890s. Rudolph Knoblauch ran a restaurant in the back for a period of time. Alfred Lufth had a saddle and harness store here. The next owner was S. A. Hoskins who ran a general mercantile store. A. J. Weiss Mercantile, Wright’s Cash and Carry, and Jack’s Market were located in the front section of the building with Heller Meat Market in the 1920s, and the Post Office on the Columbia side of the building. The building is now home to the Colorado Grille.
