True incidents in late 1850s Colorado sparked three generations to bring together an historical narrative of betrayal, vindication, murder and land theft in a reign of terror from 1857 to 1863. Michael A. Espinosa, the editor and author, presents the journey of the book from the storytelling of his grandfather to the manuscript by his father to the publication of one family’s historical narrative.
